Sometimes life doesn't seem fair. It seems like some
people have to go through more than a human being
should be able to handle. Our friends Jeremiah and
Laura Borke are two such people. They recently lost
the lives of their two newborn twin sons. While the
twins were in Laura's womb, it was discovered that
they had twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome --
basically that one twin was "stealing" a lot of the
nutrients from the other twin. Through much prayer,
the twins were able to make it several weeks past the
26-week deadline that the doctors had set for them,
and last Monday (a week ago today), they performed an
emergency c-section on Laura to deliver the twins.
The first one, Taran, died only 8 minutes after
delivery. If he had not lived long enough to be
delivered, his brother, Tegid, would not have made it
out of the womb alive. Tegid did arrive, though,
because of his brother's heroism. However, his
kidneys were not strong enough to support him yet,
and on Friday at about 8pm, he also died. So after
all this turmoil and worry, Jare and Laura have had
to go home empty-handed. Our hearts break with them
in this tragedy, and our prayers and tears are with
them.
