Kelvin Sampson!!!
Reports came out about an hour ago on ESPN that Kelvin Sampson will be the next basketball coach at IU. This has been a six-week long ordeal in the "Hoosier Nation" that has finally come to an end, and Eric and I are VERY happy about it. We've liked Sampson and his teams ever since IU played them in the 2002 Final Four, and for the past year or so, we've been talking about how much we would like it if he someday came to IU. He's a quality coach and a good guy, and IU will be lucky to have him, I think. We're so pumped!!!

24 days...and Eric is silly
Just about three weeks now...and maybe sooner. The baby "dropped" a week ago, so according to averages, his time could be coming within two or three weeks of that event -- which is one or two weeks from now. We'll see what happens. There's really nothing one can do at this point, you know? Eric is working really hard to get as many of his school affairs in order as possible, so if there is an early surprise, it won't be a catastrophe on his semester. I'm proud of how well he's held up this semester with eveyrthing going on -- renovating the bathroom, teaching a graduate class, doing research for two labs on campus, writing qualifying papers, and applying for a grant/fellowship. He's like superman!

And he's getting sillier by the day, too. On Saturday, he had been working on the bathroom floor board trim, and stopped to eat lunch with me. We split a grapefruit for dessert, and it was quite a juicy one. At one point, I looked up from my own half of the grapefruit to see him staring back at me with his huge work goggles on -- to protect his eyes from the grapefruit squirts! It was such a funny sight, I laughed so hard I cried. And it felt good.

27 days until our Due Date!
Well, there are only about 4 weeks left until our Baby Boy Oglesbee is supposed to arrive upon the scene. I'm feeling particularly pregnant by about now and am looking forward to meeting the Little Guy. The past four or five months have been much more enjoyable than the first trimester-and-a-half. Being pregnant has its perks! It's kind of nice to have cars stop in their tracks for you when you're crossing a street, or have bag boys at the grocery insist upon carrying your groceries to your car for you, even if you've only got one bag and are perfectly capable of doing it yourself!

Eric and I are really getting excited about the prospect of parenthood, and are constantly thinking of new ways to try to help us prepare. We know there will be mistakes and clueless moments, but it's fun to research and talk about how we might want to do things once he's here.

On a more practical level of preparation, our house is pretty much baby-ready. The nursery is finished and stocked with all the necessary baby supplies, and our bathroom project in the basement is coming to a close. If you want to see pictures of the amazing work Eric has done, see the photo album labeled "Basement Bathroom" in our photo section of this website. We still have to take some pictures with the toilet, sink, etc. installed, but you can get a general idea of what a big project this has been for the past three months. It's been challenging and time-consuming, but we're so glad we were able to do most of it ourselves. We really hope the addition of this bathroom off of our TV/rec room in the basement will significantly increase the value of our home when we do have to sell it someday.
